And again, you're stupid if you base your purchase off how famous the company is. If that was the case, then Fender and Gibson would be the best guitars and everything else would suck, which certainly isn't the case.
Well, if You say that What about Boss GT-8? And why the hell POD got so few knobs? And for the third time, basing it on how many knobs it has is stupid. The POD has so few knobs because it's very user friendly and easy to use.
Well, known companies know how to built things. Isn't that true? You can play U2 with anything. The only thing that'll change is how it'll sound. Let me just go over a few things with you so this guy will stop calling you stupid. I wouldn't take their advice because every fucker owns one now, and you don't know who's just jumping on the 'love POD' bandwagon. Line 6 POD is a versitlile piece of kit, I've never heard any problems with it, but then I've never tried it.
Apparently it's very user friendly, but, it tends to be more metal-orientated; the hi gain patches are insanely good, but what I've heard of the lower gain and clean patches isn't the best. The tone lab is actually quite good.
It's better for live playing because the valve gives it a bit more life than just digital patches. The GT-6 is't worth it, if you want boss, go for the GT I personally don't like the Boss distortions, too gritty for me, but their overdrive patches are tremendous.
The modulations are fantastic and easy to creat the tone you want. The main thing is you HAVE to try these before you buy them. They will make up the majority of your tone, and if you discover you dopn't actually like it, you've gotta go take it back and then try and find a different unit.
I was speaking from an effects standpoint, not amp patches. The amp models are a little digital sounding, but then again, he didn't say he wanted an amp modeler. If he doesn't mant amp patches than he probably can get something cheaper than the POD. I personally like the sound of the GT-8 better.
The POD only has a few knobs because you use the parameter buttons to surf through the menu. The GT-8 has so many more because it pulled all the buttons out of the menu and put them on the face of the unit.
I think the GT-8 is overall better. That won't sound as good. I know which I'd pick. Well, I need it for U2, Coldplay, Oasis covers - we made a band with a couple of friends and want to play their songs. We will probably never record anything in a studio. Tell me what sort of music you wish to play. I own a ToneLab SE and can tell you wether it will suit your style or rather not. From what I remember he's big on delay too, and the POD has a ton of different delays to choose from.
