How to repair internet explorer 6 in windows 2000

Upgrade already, use IE8. IE6 is a decade old piece of unsafe crap that even MS doesn't suggest you use. Want my help? Ask here! I never upgrade anything unless there is a good reason. I am using IE6 see screenshot and Firefox 2.

Also have seen corrupted user accounts cause problems as Bjs described. A niece clean user profile usually helps everything run a little smoother. What ever fix gets you going again, give your PC a full scan and then only use ie for windows updates. This has always fixed IE6 issues, but it unfortunately screws up Outlook Express.

Personally I create an image of a good Windows with everything working properly using either Ghost or Seagate DiscWizard, and then simply restore the image when problems arise. Thanks guys. Youtube and Google can be used with Firefox which the OP has. I use IE only for things that require it and use Mozilla Seamonkey for everything else. Posted 01 August - PM. Hi I'm new to this forum. My friend is having a problem with her IE 6. Nothing happens. The hour glass disappears, and when the taskmanager is displayed, it shows iexplorer in the process window, but there is no page displayed. Again, when the icon, either on the desktop or toolbar try is clicked, the same thing happens. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, does the two repair procedures at the top of this topic apply to this problem as well?

Maybe you just have the wrong version. They run IE6 and most apps that W2K would. I don't get why your app can't run in XP. And earlier you said if you wanted to surf you could use another machine so by your own admission your app is not dependent on IE6 so why not use opera on this machine?
